Mount Qilai
Mount Qilai
Honeycrisp apple, lilac, bamboo shoot
Mount Qilai is a lightly oxidized high-elevation Taiwanese oolong. It is named after the mountain where it's grown, with its peak sitting over 3,000 meters above sea level.
High mountain teas are highly regarded locally. Teas grown at this elevation receive short sun exposure followed by misty afternoons and cool evenings. These factors slow down tea plant growth, thereby concentrating their aromatic compounds. Constant humidity from the cloud cover produces a tea with vibrance and sweetness, and less bitter astringency.
This oolong tea is fragrant and present, with fleshy aromatics in white florals and pome fruits. It stands up to multiple brews and offers a seductive, silky long finish.
