This is a great place to start for anyone getting into gongfu style tea brewing - where small quantities of tea is brewed in many short and repeated steepings. The beauty of a small teapot is that tea stays hot with every sip, and you get a take a tea vacation while savoring aroma nuances between each steep. We think this is the finest way slow down and spend intentional teatime with just you and your tea.
This small clay teapot is fired in high heat with an unglazed interior and is shaped in a classic shape. We adore this pot for solo or duo tea drinking.
The clay softens the water texture and makes the tea infusion silkier on the palate. This teapot is ideal for a variety of teas and for everyday use. The unglazed interior is porous in texture, which means it takes on the aromatic oils of your teas. Over time the pot will gently season your tea with its patina of flavors, like a heritage cast iron skillet.

Common Questions
What type of tea is best to brew in a clay teapot?
Clay teapots are great for holding temperature and therefore are best suited for brewing roasted teas or vintage teas to better bring out the depth of flavor (versus glass or porcelain teapots). The clay is porous and absorbs the aromatic oils of the teas it brews. As such, we don’t recommend brewing scented or blended teas to avoid flavor transfer.
How do I clean my clay teapot?
Never use soap! Remove the brewed tea leaves (chopsticks help) and rinse with hot water until all the small tea leaves are rinsed out. Don’t forget to rinse the lid. Use your hand for tea stains, we don't think there is a real need for a scrub. Once it's cleaned, open the lid to air dry. Do not replace the lid until the teapot is completely dry.
