Taste and explore the six major categories of tea in this immersive seminar. It’s the perfect introduction for anyone curious about how a single plant—Camellia sinensis—can become white, green, yellow, oolong, red (black), or dark (fermented) tea through craft alone.

Discover a spectrum of styles as we look closely at each tea, smell leaves both dry and warmed and learn the fundamentals of gongfu brewing with multiple infusions. You’ll taste how oxidation, heat, and handling shape flavor—from delicate, minimally-handled white teas to richly aged dark teas.

As we move through the tasting, you’ll gain a clearer sense of your own preferences and brewing approaches while learning Taiwan’s unique role in the global tea world. Guided discussion invites you to describe what you’re experiencing, compare notes with the group, and connect flavor back to production.

Taiwan-inspired snacks accompany the tasting. There will also be time for questions and guidance on selecting loose-leaf teas so you can continue your tea journey with confidence.
