Flavor Profile
Candied plums, star fruit, dark chocolate
Black tea · high oxidation · medium roast
Stonegate Breakfast is grown in the hilly region of Shimen District (石門), right on the northern coast of Taiwan. It's also known as "A-li-bang black tea", a heritage name from the era of Japanese occupation. In the early 1900's, Japan made Taiwan its designated black tea producing region in an effort to capture western tea market while reducing competition for Japanese made green teas.
Stonegate Breakfast was made in the style the Chinese Keemun black tea, fragrant and full bodied tea with aroma of cocoa beans. During its heyday, this tea was exported globally to satisfy tea connoisseurs of England and Morocco. It even became a beloved tea choice for the Japanese emperor.
The Hsieh family was one of the largest tea production family in Shimen since the 1920's. The head of the family was famously awarded by the Japanese emperor for his exceptional tea making skills.
Stonegate breakfast is regal, bold and present: the right way to start your mornings.
