Royal Courtesan
Royal Courtesan
Rose, artichoke, muscat grape
Royal Courtesan oolong is a medium-bodied Taiwanese tea. It's a relatively recent varietal that emerged in the wake of the 1999 earthquake in Nantou County.
After the earthquake, many tea gardens were temporarily abandoned as farmers sought to recover from the disaster. Unattended, these tea gardens were attacked by Jacobiasca Formosana, the same tiny tea insect that imbues Oriental Beauty with its famous muscat sweetness.
When the farmers returned to their gardens, they were disappointed to find blighted tea plants, though they were curious enough to still use that year's harvest to make Frozen Summit. Royal Courtesan is the result.
This Taiwanese oolong offers a bouquet of fragrant roses and notes of muscat grape and honey. The golden-colored infusion offers a full and intricate aroma and an ample finish.
