Candied plum, star fruit, dark chocolate

Stonegate Breakfast is grown in the hilly region of Shimen District (石門), right on the northern coast of Taiwan. It's also known as "A-li-bang black tea", a heritage name from the era of Japanese occupation. In the early 1900's, Japan made Taiwan its designated black tea producing region in an effort to capture the western tea market.

Stonegate Breakfast was made in the style of Chinese Keemun black tea, a fragrant and full-bodied tea with the aroma of cacao. In its heyday, this tea was exported globally to satisfy tea connoisseurs of England and Morocco. It even became a beloved tea choice for the Japanese emperor.

Our producer, the Hsieh family, has been one of the largest tea production families in Shimen since the 1920s. The head of the family was famously honored by the Japanese emperor for his exceptional tea making skills.

Stonegate Breakfast is regal, bold and present – an intentional morning ritual.
