Traditional Chinese Medicine Select
Preventative Chinese Medicine sets its foundation on achieving harmony between the body and its environments, particularly in relations to the four seasons.
Like plants and animals, our body changes its constitution in response to changes in temperature and exposure to sunlight. In spring and summer, we flourish and seek physical activities outdoors. This is a great opportunity to cultivate our Yang energy that supports regeneration and growth. In autumn and winter, our bodies retreat to conserve energy as the temperature cools. This is the ideal occasion to nourish our Yin energy, helping us contract and slow down.
By choosing your daily tea based on how it affects our bodies, we can more effectively nurture our Yin and Yang energy to adapt to the changing seasons and enhance general wellbeing.
Spring Tea Selection
Greener style oolongs that yield a golden or pale-yellow infusion are the most suitable for spring. This family of teas are light bodied and floral in aroma. They complement the season’s blossoming landscape and uplift our spirit. Gentle caffeine awakens our body and stimulates our yang energy for increased physical activities. We are prone to inflammation and seasonal colds from the erratic temperature changes. The gentle cooling effect of greener styled oolongs can reduce liver irritation and help us metabolize toxins.
For spring, we recommend our Baozhong or unroasted high elevation oolong such as the Mt Pyrus.
The above tea selection is based on a neutral body type. For details on your specific body type, please consult with Traditional Chinese Medicine professionals. Description
Baozhong Expert's Pick | Oolong tea . low oxidation . unroasted
A classic Taiwanese oolong that dates back to the 19th century. Iconic in its white lily flower aroma, the infusion is vegetal, grassy and light in body. Fragrant and elegant like the blossoming flowers surrounding us, this tea is a joyous treat for spring.
Mount Pyrus | Oolong tea . low oxidation . unroasted
Mount Pyrus, or Li Shan, is a mountain in Taiwan known to produce juicy pears. Teas produced on Mount Pyrus drink like an early morning walk through a misty mountain vista dotted by fruit orchards. Its aroma is bright and fragrant like its namesake pears.
